I voted on this one when it was first posted, but have been pondering my response. I voted for "weekends", but have been wondering *why* weekends. Until just recently I lived in the DC suburbs, and I found that if I wanted to explore the monuments and take photos without a zillion tourists in them, the best time to get down there would be early on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I'd often arrive on the Mall before sunrise to start looking for shots. I think that because I don't do much shooting at home (like in a lightbox or studio/still life set up or the like), I have to decide about weather and about people. Do I want morning or mid-day lights? Do I want blue skies or precipitation? Do I want people wandering in or out of my shots? Depending on where I shoot, the people question will greatly impact whether I shoot on a weekday or weekend....
