Or Gunsotsu's over at Techniques/Shooting the moon. I don't understand the lens issue: it would seem your 55mm would capture more than that. I do zoom to get the 36mm, but if anything I would expect to have much less than what came out of editting. But I am on a hill in Central New York . . .

(Second thoughts: someone suggested the moon is much brighter than we imagine, and I've followed her suggestion, the above shot at 1/1500 f/8 -2.1 EV, which is about all the options I have)
