The EXIF reads f/0 if you use a lens that doesn't talk to the camera (non CPU in technical terms I think). You have to adjust the aperture using the aperture ring, the camera can't do it for you. Try opening up the aperture as wide as you can, twist the aperture ring so that the dot lines up with the smallest number (largest aperture) to let plenty of light in, then try different shutter speeds and see what happens. If it still doesn't give you a good picture at all, then maybe it is time for it to go back.
