Let me take a few seconds to share my discovery because I'm really amazed.

I was a fraction of a second away from pressing the submit button posting this reply:

I can confirmed the view is the same if I turn the camera on or off. In fact, this is pretty much what I see with my eyes (this is the purpose of an SLR. What you see should be what you get).

But for some reason I thought: "What if I remove the battery to test it just like he did it in the store".... et voilą !

It's like having an ND filter +seeing all the noise at ISO 6400 right in the viewfinder ! No wonder you were concerned hahaha. But as soon as I put the battery back in it's gone and I see like with my own eye.

So let's get back to the important stuf.... go get yourself a D90 !!!! and tell the guy he won't sell any unless he puts battery in.
