It’s a dream job you’ve decided. A day that you create beauty from chaos. A day that you capture two lives being forged together for all time. A day that gives you an all access pass to the most important event of two peoples lives. A 6 to 12 hour day of nonstop art and order. Yes. That is not just a dream job. It’s your dream job.
You’ve shot a couple weddings. You’ve decided this is a vocation you want to throw yourself into with heart and soul. And from what you’ve heard from the photography forums and bloggers, your gonna need all that motivation behind you to make it in the industry.
You make out a business plan, a marketing plan, and a development plan. You’ve got all the books on business and the business of photography that you can find. Still, you’re nervous. Can you afford to bank your dream job on a few pieces of paper that you aren’t sure will work out in the long run?
Of course not.
Which is why Dane Sanders is here to offer you his help.
Last year, Dane Sanders, a successful wedding photographer, wrote a masters guide to launching a wedding photography business – the successful way. Full of stories and anecdotes, Fast Track Photographer outlines how you can evaluate your position in the industry. What kind of shooter are you? What elements of the business should you outsource? And how to you capitalize on the real draw for your business?
In a smart and entertaining manner, Sanders isn’t just about how to’s. His book is as real to life as it gets. Like a great mystery novel you can’t put down, Fast Track Photographer will lead your reading into late hours of the night [you may even miss the newest episode of LOST].
Unlike most books on wedding photography out there, Sanders book doesn’t describe a bunch of photography techniques, or a list of theories you need to memorize and put into practice. It’s a book that dives into the ins and outs of the wedding photography industry and leaves you with the tools to evaluate how you fit in, why you fit in, and how you launch a successful business.
Whether you are just thinking about getting started, or need a new strategy for a declining economy, Fast Track Photographer is a book that can become your greatest mentor. You may be surprised to discover that your dream job isn’t all that out of reach after all.

This is a great book for other areas of professional photography, even though it focuses on wedding photography. Invaluable advice on branding, finding what makes you unique and setting yourself apart from the rest. I recommend it to anyone in the business or thinking about starting.

This book really is great, and it’s a total bargain. People always ask me how I manage a home, a family (3 kids and one in the oven) and run a successful photography business. . . a lot of what I do to survive came right out of this great book. Any small business owner (of any type of business) should pick it up NOW.

Yes, this book is great for all wedding and portrait photographers! It focuses more on you as the photographer as opposed to your photography. Dane does an awesome job of teaching how to capitalize on your strengths and stand out in the world of professional photography!

While the book may seem at face value to focus a lot on wedding photographers, I think it applies to anyone. Underneath it all, at the very core, are some wonderful guidelines to exploring who you truly are, what your strengths and weaknesses are, and how you can use this to leverage yourself – in any business really, but especially in photography!
Find what you love. Follow your dreams. Do it well.
