I had the same experience as Chris. When I first fired up the Dymo, it did a reasonable job on the included blanks. Then, using printable media, a less attractive result. I, too, didn't use it for a month or so, at which point it would no longer work at all. It is undoubtedly the worst purchase I have ever made, and I will never again buy any product from Dymo.

Hey Chris, the review isn't flawed - it's accurate. I used it with the supplied kit and it worked well (As you've pointed out above) When you review gear, you don't usually get a lot of time for testing (Certainly not the three months that yours took to dry up) I agree - the support isn't there and trying to get replacement ink in the UK is a nightmare (I've ditched the Dymo in favour of my Canon Pixma since this review)

Sorry you had a bad experience...

This review is seriously flawed. I have one and I had the same great results with the 3 included waterproof cdr's. The URL on the pack for ordering more does not exist. Dymo does not sell anymore. Mine printed around 30 DVDR's and then I did not use it for 3 months. When I went back, the ink was totally clogged. It completely used up a $60 ink cartridge "cleaning" itself and now proints again with concentric lines. It is impossible for me to find any media that prints as well as the 3 free CDR's that were included. There is no support from Dymo, the Dymo website makes it very very difficult to find any info. Really, if you want to spend $300 to print around 30 DVD's or CD's then this is for you. If you do not want to waste a whole bunch of money and time and wind up with yet another piece of technocrap, then do not go near this utter and total pile of garbage.

I've had nothing but trouble with the Dymo DiscPainter. I too, want just simple text. I've sent it back (at a cost to me) and they sent it back saying it had been "calibrated." It's still doing the same thing. I received this as a Christmas gift this past Christmas ('08), and have been able to print one disc with it. Don't waste your money!

I print very simple CDs for lessons we sell, just black text and not a lot of it. Can you tell me how long it would take to print such a simple design?

So does it work with any blank DVD/CD? Or it requires special disc that can be printed on?

get a canon MP610, professional quality prints and pops out printed DC/DVD's in less than 30 seconds. Brilliant for $250 AUD.

I usually use 300dpi 1900x2100'ish images... (and did in this case) so, far from low quality... Possible that you would achieve quality loss if you used a tiny image.
