DPS Forum Member in the Spot Light – Japaslavian
Today I thought I’d highlight some of the work of one of our forum members who has been producing some great work of late.
Japaslavian (Jeff) is a 21 year old guy living in the Bay Area (California).

He shoots with a Canon Rebel XT which he pairs with a Canon 18-55mm, Canon 10-22mm and Canon 580ex II.
Japaslavian has put together three albums in the DPS forums:
Nature and Landscapes, Long Exposure and Architecture.
I’ve asked him if he would write a tutorial on his style for the blog – hopefully we’ll be able to publish something oin the coming month or so.

See more of Japaslavian’s work at his photoblog, Flickr account and art blog.
If you’re not yet a member of our forum – do come on over and join up today (note: if you are signed up for our newsletter the forum is a separate membership and you’ll need to sign up for it here specifically). Share some of your favorite images with an album of your own!

There was really a contrast between the subject and the background. But it would look more fantastic if the photoshop does not look to obvious. Anyway, it is a result of a digital art. Great work..

Like the contrast, long exposures and even the composition angles in these shots. I think Japaslavian has great potential as a photographer! One thing though: how does he do it? ND-filters? Photoshop?

Wow, those are some very impressive pictures. What shutter speed did you use to make the clouds look so smooth?

I really like the building shot. It flows well and creates an impressive dark mood. The dock shot doesn’t strike me. I’m not sure what to think about that one. It’s not bad, but it don’t seem as powerful to this viewer.

I’m not seeing any photos. Just Xs.

It’s one thing to compliment a photographer’s nice work(ie actual pictures), it’s quite another to point out someone’s Photoshop skills. While these shots may have nice framing, the contrast, cloud/water smoothing, etc. is all post-processed artwork….but I guess today it’s no longer about just what comes out of your camera, it also includes your skills as a digital canvas junkie.

Brilliant Nights provides exceptional service. They came to my house, and gave me options for lighting my property. Their work is guaranteed, and the Spot Lighting came out great. I was pleased with the results and will continue to use them in the future. Check out their website at http://www.brilliantnights.com
