Doors: Weekly Photography Challenge
This week your photography challenge is to photograph and share an image on the themes of ‘doors’. The theme was suggested by Zainab Al-Refaie on our Facebook page.
Hopefully its a theme that is both accessible to everyone (we all have doors around us) but also opens up some creative options. You might like to find an interesting door to photograph, or photograph a portrait subject standing in/against a doorway, or you might use an open doorway to frame a shot, or zoom in for a more abstract shot on a number or door knocker on a door….
Feel free to take any approach you like!
Once you’ve taken your ‘Doors’ Images – choose your best 1-2, upload them to your favourite photo sharing site and either share a link to them or – embed them in the comments using the our new tool to do so.
If you tag your photos on Flickr, Instagram, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSDOORSto help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.
Also – don’t forget to check out some of the great shots posted in last weeks http://www.digital-photography-school.com/shoes-weekly-photography-challenge“>Addiction challenge where there were some great shots submitted.

Imagining the history behind a door like this is both intriguing and a bit frightful.

When I took this I wasn’t thinking about exposure or composition or angles. I was just walking around the Town of Staunton Va, and came across this old train station. When I saw the door in the walk way it was like I couldn’t stop myself from taking the picture. Of course I never thought I would submit anything for a contest either.

Wish I had the original of this in the original, unedited version. You could see the bridge a lot better…

The first door is from a run down hot spring in Jemez Springs New Mexico. The 2nd door way is from the run down Eastern State Penn in Pennsylvania that they are trying to classify as a ruins.

I enjoy shooting doors, but haven’t shot any recently. I rushed to downtown Little Rock and shot this upstairs door to nowhere.

Hi everyone, I recently went on a whirlwind camping trip in the states. We drove 8500km and went to nine states. Needless to say I have lots of images and am glad to have somewhere to share them. These were taken in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
I shot with a Nikon D90. Looking forward to comments.

I’ve added another rather striking “door” picture (http://smu.gs/rd6ROe) – one of my favorites – taken at the Church of the Pater Noster in Jerusalem. The walls of this church have translations of the Lord’s Prayer in 62 different languages.

…also added another picture to this gallery (http://smu.gs/oME5NP) – showing one of the gates to the old city of Jerusalem.
