It only took me a few hours to devour the entire book. I’m thrilled with the wonderful info on lighting and different types of flash. I like that Scott tells the reader why he has purchased a certain item and how it has helped him in his shoots. Why reinvent the wheel – might as well benefit from a master! A definate plus for anyones digital photography library and a natural compliment to Book 1.

I just got the book last night (had it on pre-order from Amazon).

It definitely has a different focus from the first book. The first one was a little more broad. Lots of different suggestions for a lot of different things you’re likely to do whether you’re a beginner or have some experience (but probably not too much info for the seasoned pro). The new book seems focused more on the serious amateur… which is what I consider myself.

There’s a lot of good information in it. By page 10 I was already thrilled that I had picked it up. But, in a way, it’s a more “expensive” book. That is, if you look at a lot of the equipment suggested to do the things the author recommends (at least in the lighting chapter up front which is where I spent most of my time last night) you’ll be putting out a lot of cash… even at the low end. This is not a criticism, as we have an expensive hobby. There’s no getting around that. It also meant that some of the things that are recommended in the book I won’t really be able to try right away.

So far, I’m really happy with the book. It already explained to me, in clear terms, how to properly do wireless remote flash with my camera (which, I’m embarrassed to say, I had some trouble with previously)… and that’s just the beginning.

I got this book a few weeks ago and I just picked up the original the other day. These should be required reading for anyone picking up a camera. I picked up some other photography books as well and they were more expensive and had less useful information.

I bought the first book, it was great! Despite scott’s corny humor. I have ordered the second book from Amazon along with Bryan Peterson’s new book.

I was given book 1 for Christmas. I have just finished reading it and thought it was fantastic. Best Christmas present I got this year.

Great to hear that number 2 is available.

I just ordered it based on book 1 and the reviews here. I loved the first book, it was the first book of many that I have bought from amazon. I ordered it with the link here so I hope DPS gets the credit.

My fiancee got me the the first book for Xmas, and I swear I’ve consulted it or idly browsed it every day since then. I’ll definitely be picking up #2.
