Personally, I think this camera is pretty sweet. Jack Neubart recently published a field test review of the Canon G10 on Photocrati... and he gives it a thumbs up.

G10 doesn't have 1024x768 video, which the G9 has. I'm sticking with my G9 until the sensor quality improves in this line.

Well I had both G9 and now I own a G10. Both a have to say are great. Buttons on G10 a much batter positioned. Everything else is more or less the same. (+ -).

- is less zoom, which I miss a lot.

Quality of the pics is great, specialy at low ISO, at high ISO is very grainy (800 and up). 400 is , hmm....let say still OK.

I do generaly use my old EOS 3, and 20D, if I will have money will still like to go for 5d mark II, specialy speed and lenses ( I have a lot of those)

Canon really does ofer some accessories to go along this camera, tele, wide angle, etc. I have never used them, they do look kind a ....dont know how to put it....not proffesionaly made. Sorry for this. Also I would say that quality of the pics becomes a big isue, by mine oppinion not wort it, but let someone who has it and use it say more about it.

Camera alone - higly recomended (both G9 or G10)

I don't know how you could love this camera so much.

I used to be an owner of a G9, and I went from loving it to hating it in weeks. The noise handling is absolute horse crap. I couldn't shoot above ISO 200 without getting images that looked more grainer than a shaved butt. The camera acted like a shaved butt too.

The D40 is just as compact and does much better in terms of noise.

Screw small sensor cameras.

I borrowed a G9 earlier in the year for a trip, and purchased a G10 about 2 months ago - for my purposes the G10 is much better than its predecessor. I use my camera mostly for underwater photography, and having been lucky enough to get hold of the 'very scarce' housing, I took some wonderful shots with the G10. For me wide angle is much better than zoom (underwater you only get to shoot what you can get light on, so long zooms are useless). SLR's would be an option if the housings didn't cost so much - 4-5 times the price of the G10 housing. Anyway for me the G10 rocks.

For spontaneous shots and just ease of carrying around, I have used my G9. It is amazing with many of the features you describe in your G10 review. The description of the G10, makes me salivate but for now I will stick with the G9.

I really like the G series too. I have two older models that I purchased before I bought my Canon EOS and I go back to them frequently for ease of use and performance. Good cameras!

I used a G5 for years before purchasing a DSLR. It was and still is a fantastic camera; I was really impressed with the high-quality images it produced.

My friend also uses a G3, and despite its age it still takes great pictures too. Makes me want to get my hands on the G10 to try it out...
