I had an Olympus for 3 years loved it. Got the latest Olympus tough -- returned it -- noise city -- green/red inside with or without a flash, slow... even slower than 3 year old one it was supposed to replace. Got Canon D10 -- images much better, faster -- much faster -- colors, very little noise, etc. vastly superior. Size of camera question. Yes, a bit bigger but easier to hold in hand. Images make all the difference. Weight difference non-issue. And... uses SD cards vs. XD which only go to 2 gig. Any questions? Video is smooth, sound decent vs. Olympus, really no comparision. BTW, enjoy some of my music and see some of the images at my website, greedradio.com :)

I got it and used it for the first time this weekend. This is my 4th Canon digicam, starting off with an old 5mp Powershot back when that was the height of technology. I've also got a Rebel Xti and a SD1100IS.

Originally I got the Canon waterproof housing for for the SD1100IS, which is probably great for scuba because it floats but was bad for whitewater kayaking because there was no place to put it on my person or in the boat that was easily accessible. The biggest issue for sea kayaking (could snap it to a deck bungie) was that water spots ended up on the lens cover and showed up in the photos.

All my friends have Olympus waterproof cameras (we shoot a lot of video and photos when paddling) and I'm the first with the Canon. They all said it looked like an Olympus having an allergic reaction - its puffy! It does fit in my PFD pocket though and its on a lanyard and clip in there.

The 12 mp quality is apparent, the interface easy to use (just like my other Canons) and with an 8 gig card I can shoot video to my heart's content. I bought an extended warranty, but lets see how she holds up!

Wow! something to look forward to consume this year!

I love snorkeling and hitting the deep waters to see them fishies and appreciate the colors with em. I can't wait to get my hands on these.

Come to daddy baby...

I wonder how the pictures would look like out of water after you go under... i hope it wont have problems fogging up.

This will definitley be on the top of the list for my daughter next Christmas. I can't tell you how many cameras she has dropped. (including the video cam). Maybe this one will last her longer!

The rugged and waterproof construction has really caught my attention. Does anyone know if Nikon will be launching a similar camera this spring? It would be nice to have some choices on some of the other features.

i have been wanting to get a waterproof camera and have been thinking of getting the olympus one. but i am a canon lover so i've always hesitated getting a different brand that's why i never got it. i'm really happy canon has finally made their own waterproof camera. i can't wait until it's out in the market although i'm thinking maybe i should wait a little bit and see if they're going to have one with 3" lcd although 2.5" is not bad either.

need to have one! finally a life proof camera offering from Canon! i can imagine the picture quality compared to olympus' mu series! this would probably be a best seller the time when it'll be available on the market!
