my sense of humor and my " eyesight " have left me...and will not return till one huge question is answered. Here is the problem. Anybody out there who can help me?

I own a Canon 20D, Adobe CS2, Lightroom 1.4 and all worked like a charm till I purchased a Canon Rebel XSi. After several weeks of downloading pics from the XSi onto the computer, CS2 will not open any raw files unless they are all converted to a DNG file OR till I upgrade to CS4 which I don't need. This is beyond frustrating!

I had my computer guru come and try to figure this out. To the best of his knowledge, all files have to be sent to DNG for conversion, Adobe does not offer a patch to allow any other raw files to be opened in photoshop. When I convert photos to DNG, all orginal data is no longer shown with photogpraph, and to top it all off, I am not able to add any key or additional notes to a photograph. I get a warning that all data will be lost.

When I download into My Pictures, there is no way I can even pull up a photograph to see what it is and if I want to convert it. unless I shot pics in JPEG and Raw and this takes up unnecessary memory on the desktop

All of this takes a lot of time and joy away from photography. I use to have a camera inmy hand all the time and now I don't touch it
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or how to resolve the problem

Thanks,
Jayne

I am new to DPS and I am learning a lot from reading all of your articles. You simplify everything for a beginner and are an excellent teacher. I have one comment. There is no date on your articles and you will refer to "today" and "last month" or "last year" which has no meaning for me, a new member.
There may be a date somewhere but I cannot find one.
Keep up the good work.

Hehe, you and everyone else has blogged those 40D details. I won't be tempted as the features offered simple aren't enough to upgrade from a 20D.

Looks like the same details from both Amazon and Best Buy too.

Looks like Amazon pulled it. Now the link just says, "Looking for something?
We're sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site."
Guess Canon nipped that one in the bud fast!
