Camera Lens Mugs – Nikon or Canon?
Whether you’re shopping for a gift for a photography enthusiast or you are one yourself – this is a product with WOW factor that you’ll want to check out for yourself – DSLR lens coffee mugs!

Our friends over at Photojojo have had a Canon Lens Coffee Mug in their store for a while now but today just added a Nikon lens Mug for all you Nikon fans.
I have one of the Canon ones and have fooled many friends and family members by pouring coffee into or sipping from it – it’s a lot of fun and sure to create a stir.
Both models come with an easy to clean, heat preserving, stainless steel lining as well as a lens cap lid, rubber grip focus and zoom rings and auto focus switch (that doesn’t do anything else but switch). The Nikon mug even zooms when you twist its grip.
Get full details on these fun mugs at Photojojo.
PS: also check out some of the other great gear on the Photojojo store including the Fisheye, Macro and Wide Angle Camera Phone Lenses, the Camera Strap T-shirts and 360 Spinner Pano Camera.

Funny that you would post this today. I just received my cup yesterday, and posted a photo of the mug beside the real lense, and people are guessing which is really real, lol !

Funny that you posted this today. I just received my Canon mug yesterday. I LOVE it. I posted a photo of it and the actual lense, side by side on my facebook page. People are trying to guess which is the real lense.

I’ll buy one of these as soon as they make one from a Leica Noctilux 50mm f/.95. Just the right size for espresso.
November 17th, 2010 at 6:19 am
Just bought the Nikon mug today before reading this. Can’t say I’m not excited for it to arrive.
November 17th, 2010 at 6:26 am
Canon! It’s on my Christmas list.
November 17th, 2010 at 6:27 am
This is a photographer’s collectable

Taking a close look at the leaflet inside the Canon lens/mug, there are a few cautions: do not microwave; do not use carbonated beverages; and more.
November 17th, 2010 at 6:41 am
Just realized how much I NEED the Nikon mug, but I don’t think they would ship it to Brazil
November 17th, 2010 at 6:51 am
Totally COOL for a HOT cup of coffee!
November 17th, 2010 at 6:58 am
Love it. I have a Nikon mug and posted a one minute video review. Disclaimer: It was late in the day

DealExtreme started carrying these too (plus the Canon 70-200mm f/4 and others), including free international shipping. I don’t have a clue about the build quality, but these mugs are more about the looks anyway.
November 17th, 2010 at 7:57 am
I want a large aperture one. How about a 50/0.95 Noctilux or a 25/0.95 Nokton?
November 17th, 2010 at 8:24 am
I’m just geeky enough to appreciate this!
November 17th, 2010 at 8:44 am
I have the Canon one, bought it as a birthday splurge a couple months ago. =P The only thing I don’t like about it is it doesn’t have a travel spout lid (the lid covers the whole top, otherwise you’re drinking like from an open cup). So it’s more for using at home or when you’ll be sitting someplace, than as a travel mug.
Still, pretty nifty. =)
November 17th, 2010 at 8:48 am
I got one.. the nikon version… its very lifelike… fooled a lot of nikon/canon fans..
November 17th, 2010 at 9:12 am
Those mugs are great. I have to get one. Too bad they don’t make Sony mugs.
November 17th, 2010 at 9:39 am
i ordered my 2 mugs last week. the 24-105mm and the 70-200mm. can’t wait!
November 17th, 2010 at 9:49 am
I am so getting one! Does anyone know the volume these mugs will hold?
November 17th, 2010 at 9:51 am
Nevermind.. I just found out. Both will hold 11oz so I suppose the Nikon is slimmer while the Canon is wider.
November 17th, 2010 at 10:44 am
I have the white Canon one right now for my morning coffee!
November 17th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
I like the Canon one.
November 17th, 2010 at 2:33 pm
I always wonder have anyone have mix up a “Camera Lens Mugs” with real lens when they want to get a mug of water when they are drunk and start poring water at the real lens
November 17th, 2010 at 3:43 pm
Ordered my Canon five minutes ago!
November 17th, 2010 at 4:24 pm
I have the Canon 70-200mm f/4 coffee thermos
Canon Philippines sent it to me for free for buying my first EF lens (actually second lens aside from kit), 50mm 1.8
November 17th, 2010 at 6:14 pm
I have had the Canon 70-200 for quite awhile now and ?t has the travel spout on it’s lid. Haven,t used it yet though so no comment on how cool it would be to show up in your local starbucks w?th one
November 17th, 2010 at 6:14 pm
Totally adorable. Should be the next give away goodies in DPS.
November 17th, 2010 at 7:43 pm
Are the insides of these mugs all stainless steel? Or is it just a metal ring on the top? I can’t tell from the photos. I want to have a mug I can actually drink out of! (and I prefer not to drink hot liquids out of plastic cups). Thanks!
November 17th, 2010 at 10:49 pm
That’s so weird, I was looking at my mug the other day thinking it would be cool if someone made mugs that looked like camera lenses.
I’d rather get a generic one though. I wouldn’t want people to mistake me for someone who cares about the whole Canon-Nikon thing
November 17th, 2010 at 11:13 pm
Do these mugs come with image stabilization? I keep spilling my coffee.
November 17th, 2010 at 11:52 pm
I think my REAL Canon 24x105mmm would be a better coffee mug then a lens…
November 18th, 2010 at 1:11 am
Great Christmas Gifts.. Oh and I can’t forget to get one for myself…
November 18th, 2010 at 1:22 am
Ordered mine yesterday! Those are great, and the site’s correct: perfect gifts for any photographer or enthusiast. Thanks for the heads up on that site.
November 18th, 2010 at 1:41 am
I was joking on twitter last night that I should order a Canon mug just to keep people guessing and confused (FYI – I Shoot Nikon). Of course part of that is to be funny. But part of it is because I am not one that believes one camera brand is necessarily better than the other except in very few specific situations (that most of us will never encounter). So getting a Canon mug to accompany my Nikon camera would be the ultimate.

There are a few things people should be aware of when purchasing these specifically I can only speak for the Canon mug. This originally started out as a promotion from Canon for the winter Olympics. Canon gave away a mug that resembled the Canon 70-200mm f4 lens. This was a Canon authorized product and was originally not intended to be sold, however those that got them for free started selling them and Canon was asked to provide some for sale..which I believe they did (or they sold the remaining stock I’m not sure which).
Since then there have been quite a few copies surfacing…some less quality than the original. The biggest way to tell is a few things..the lids are one example. The genuine Canon mug has a travel lid and has a metal liner to keep beverages hot. The fakes have a solid lid (meaning you can’t drink the beverage without taking the lid off) and the interior on the fakes are plastic.
I bought one a few months ago and it took almost 3 months before is arrived and was in excellent quality. Overall whichever one you get..they are fun to have and to watch peoples reactions when you start drinking from it.

When will these fantastic mugs be available – I need to order several for Christmas gifts and one for myself of course! What a wonderful idea – I am in love with having one of these – the Cannon of course!
November 18th, 2010 at 2:33 am
…awesome idea! But I have a critique on the promotional picture. How many times have you ever put cream in your coffee in the carafe? Shouldn’t the coffee being poured into the mug be black?
November 18th, 2010 at 3:54 am
really like those. i want the canon one.
November 18th, 2010 at 4:38 am
Wonder if the lens mount is still intact? Mount it to a broken body and have a DSLR coaster.
November 18th, 2010 at 6:37 am
I’d choose a third option such as some real and relevant reviews on this website rather than something so dull as which poseur coffee cup you’d choose.
November 18th, 2010 at 6:48 am
Wow I definitely love this idea
November 18th, 2010 at 11:26 am
Just a shame it costs so much to ship to the UK
Up for a Canon one, and a Nikon one (if I drink out of a Nikon cup, will I get a nasty rash?!) haa
November 18th, 2010 at 1:07 pm
got mine today. very plasticy, but not bad. havent put any liquids in any of them yet. the canon 70-200mm is a thermos and the 24-105 is just a cup. but you can get any of these as a thermos or a mug. you can also buy these from http://www.canonmugs.com/ i might post a few pics later when i get the chance.
November 18th, 2010 at 2:57 pm
@Daz – is the inside metal or plastic? Thanks!
November 18th, 2010 at 3:26 pm
inside is metal. unless you get the cup version. only the thermos ones have metal inside. by the way..i didn’t get mine from canonmugs or the one mentioned. i got mine from ebay and i got the cheap version. the lid on the 70-200 has a pourer, but leaks badly. i had a cuppa from it before, and it leaked out of the puorer, even when it was closed. so , if anyone is planning on getting one of these cups..get the genuine ones.
November 18th, 2010 at 5:06 pm
Hey, what about a prime lens cup for the snobby geek in us?!
November 18th, 2010 at 6:43 pm
I just fell in love with the mug. I so am gonna buy this nikon mug. I must buy for any pro-Nikon photographer. Woohoo.
November 18th, 2010 at 9:14 pm

Fantastic gift idea!
I just wonder how stable they are – especially with a very hot drink inside!
Anyone care to comment?
November 22nd, 2010 at 10:13 pm

November 25th, 2010 at 9:59 pm
Just ordered from canonlensmugs.com they say free shipping worldwide and stainless lining etc and they promise good quality not some cheap plastic? We’ll see I’ll post when I get them ($70 for 24-105 and 70-200)
November 28th, 2010 at 1:07 pm
Update – after ordering from canonlensmugs.com they arrived 5 days later opposite side of the world. Build quality ok 70-200 has well sealed travel lid but 24-105 does not. Overall satisfied so far.
November 28th, 2010 at 10:49 pm
Hi:
It took almost 30 seconds to decide to purchase both of them — one for me and one for a friend.

Ahhh! Can you spell cardiac arrest?
I’ll never buy such a thing for fear of training my brain to do something _very_ stupid… BUT they should be excellent placebos for NAS*) victims

Cheers!

@Will McA
Choosing to read an article has shouldn’t be blamed on the reader, rather the subject and publisher. Nice try.
