Deal 5: Natural Light: Our best-selling ebook
Happy New Year from dPS (at least it is new years day here in Australia).
This week your photography challenge is a little different. Instead of going out and taking a shot to share – we want you to dig through your shots from 2011 and share your best shot with us.
What ‘best’ means is up to you. It could be a shot that is technically best, makes you feel best or captures a best moment. Whatever you like.
Once you’ve selected your best shot of 2011 upload it to your favourite photo sharing site and either share a link to it or – embed it in the comments using the our new tool to do so.
If you tag your photos on Flickr, Instagram, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSBEST2011 to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.
Also – don’t forget to check out some of the great shots posted in last weeks Bokeh Lights challenge where there were some beautiful shots submitted.

I love this photos because the cows seemed to pose for me and almost had a perfect pattern. They stayed in a line and stepped a few inches closer every few minute. It was an experience that I'll never forget during my very first photo shoot.

i usually shoot candid photographs and this is one that i really like
the reason I like it so much is because it catches an instance when two older girls were setting things straight with a smaller one not part of the group and the gestures of the two older girls are very eloquent, though not striking at first glance. I also like the colors and the light
i also think that the following pictures might be worth a look:
I take this opportunity to say that I am very grateful to the DPS team for all of the insightful posts that have helped me improve a lot. Although I don't have the time to be active on DPS, is a reference point in my life and I follow all the posts! Happy New Year everybody and thank you for the invaluable support you provide to us all, whether active members or silent followers and viewers!

Hi! I am an amateur old school film photographer (though professional artist) who recently picked up my hobby again after taking several decades off. Though I jumped in with a Pentax DSLR to replace my old analog Yashica, I find I have developed a downright unhealthy addiction to my iPhone 4S. In my 2012 resolution to get my photography out there (pun most definitely intended ;), I am making my very first dPS post with a link to my personal fav iPhoneography shot of 2011. I sure hope you like it as much as I do despite its rather dark theme, and constructive criticism is most definitely appreciated. Go ahead, I can take it! http://fineartamerica.com/featured/nottingham-gothic-susan-maxwell-schmidt.html

I am very new to photography. It is a hobby that I am rapidly growing to love. I have so much left to learn and look forward to each weekend attempting to capture something magnificent. Here is my favorite shot for 2011. It is a shot of my daughter at the park. It became my favorite for the sole reason of making me laugh every time I see it. She was captured her with a classic facial expression.

I took this shot of a neighbor's dog while up in Lake Tahoe last winter. I don't use this sort of high-key adjustment very often but I just love this photo and how the dog disappears into the snow. So while it's not a technical best, it's a personal favorite.
Thank you, DPS, for everything you do to keep me informed and entertained and learning about photography!

I don't know that this is my best photo but it certainly is the one I love the best. A friend asked me to take some portraits of her kids so we went to the local park and this is one shot from that series. It has certain magic to it and I adore it.

This is the shot I took during 2011 that I was very happy with because I was right there at the right time to catch the only time that the lion finally turned and stared at me for a few seconds and I was able to get this pretty good shot even if I had a window glass between us.

The Sundial Bridge in Redding, CA is a little-known piece of niftiness that I have been trying to photograph well for several years. This glass-paved footbridge across the Sacramento River is as photogenic a piece of architecture as I've seen. It's worth a visit if you happen to be passing by.
