Before and After: Weekly Photography Challenge
This week your challenge is to take and share a photo (or photos) on the theme of ‘Before and After’.
You can interpret the theme in any way that you choose. You may wish to make it a bit of a post production challenge (and share a photo before and after you processed it with your favourite processing software), you may choose to capture an event (before and after a kids birthday party for example), you may wish to photograph the same scene before and after sunset, a hair cut, a…. well anything. Choose whatever you like!
Once you’ve taken your ‘Before and AFter’ Images – choose your best 1-2, upload them to your favourite photo sharing site and either share a link to them or – embed them in the comments using the our new tool to do so.
If you tag your photos on Flickr, Instagram, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSBEFOREAFTER to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.
Note: while we don’t mind you posting previous images that you’ve taken that fit this topic – the real point of these ‘challenges’ is to inspire you to go out and take NEW photos. So perhaps instead of just trawling through your old photos to find one that fits – grab that camera and go use it too!
Also – don’t forget to check out some of the great shots posted in last weeks Panning challenge where there were some great shots submitted.

This is a before and after of the same great egret in flight photograph with some of the background distractions removed with details about how I made the edits in Photoshop:
http://jasoncollinphotography.com/blog/2011/3/24/photography-tip-use-photoshop-clone-stamp-tool-to-clean-back.html
Having some clone stamp skills can really help an image by removing just one or two stray objects that distract from the intended subject matter of the photograph.

I’ve been doing some posts along this theme the past week, explaining how I attempt to make interesting photographs out of less than inspiring originals here’s a link my latest example. http://ajbopp.wordpress.com/2011/12/02/yellow-creek/

This is a before and after shot of my boys’ haircuts. The twist I did was to Photoshop them so that the same boy is in each shot, before and after the haircut.

Hi
This post called Monster Lighting shows the before and after images of this wonderful model. In the first shot we used harsh “Monster” light, which is not very flattering. We re-positioned the moel and, Voila…Nice!

After the Snow. These two photos are of the Shoshone River, just outside the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park. The first shows the beautiful fall foliage while the second, taken today (12/3) shows the same location after a week of snow and cold temperatures.

I just got my NEW Nikon D5100 and I wanted to test out the ISO settings. I call this post “Let there be light!”.
Before: My wife watching the 8pm news with the kitchen light in the background and the TV glare on her face.

After: Seconds later, maxing the ISO and using Lightroom for the first time.
