55% of dPS Readers Will Have a New Camera in the next Year
Last month we asked our readers whether they were planning on buying a new camera? Just over 28,000 readers responded and the results are now in!

Looks like 55% of our readers will have a new camera in their camera bag in the next 12 months!
If you are one of them – which one will it be?

My plans are for a Nikon D600 (I have a D7000 now which would become my backup), and either a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens or the new Nikon 70-200 f4.

Planning getting the Sony a99 to compliment the a77 in February. Primarily to us for landscapes and portraits. Will add the 35mm f1.4 at time of purchase.

I will be purchasing a Canon EOS-M as soon as it is available locally. This will replace my current ‘grab and run” camera, a Canon PowerShot s95. I will also be buying a Canon 6D to be my second DSLR to accompany my current 5D MIII.

Well I just bought a new camera. I was looking at high end cameras like the Sony A77 and the Pentax K-5 II, but I decided it would be foolish to make that leap due to the complexity of those cameras. I ended up with the Fujifilm – FinePix F770EXR and hope it is a good starter camera. In a few months we’ll see about a high(er) end camera.

Two big questions with subtopics … 6D or 5DMkIII as upgrade to 5DMkII or complete switchover to m4:3 (Olympus OM-D and/or Panasonic G5).
Time will show, which combination wins.

If a big wad of cash suddenly falls into my hands, then I’d like to buy a 5DIII. If a slightly smaller wad of cash falls into my hands, I think I’ll look out for the 7D Mark II when it finally comes out

Define “NEW” camera. Will I have a new to me camera? yes. I am planning on buying an old out of date, useless 5D Mk II in the spring. I know, how can I even hope to take a photograph with such out of date equipment….. but I’ll suffer. By then their prices will drop to the price of a new Rebel for a barely used model (They are currently at the $1100 price point, I’m after the $800-900 price point for something with under 10,000 shutter actuations.)

Sony RX100. Originally thought about an EOS-M (1st attempt, not quite there), Pana GX1 (too expensive), X10 (maybe), and G1X (just too big) to replace my G9 as an everywhere camera. Decided that all of them are a compromise in one way or another over the DSLR and that pocketability with good IQ was the way to go as I could forgive the IQ not being full frame quality given the size but not so much for the others.

I wish the graph would be more color blind friendly. I’m a little color blind and I can’t tell what color goes with what category.
