40% of Our Readers Have PhotoBlogs
Last month we asked readers a simple yes or no question in our site poll – do you have a PhotoBlog? Over 12,000 people responded.
Here are the results:

I was actually a little surprised by the numbers that did have a photoblog – I guess the many in the DPS audience have discovered the joys of sharing their best shots online!

It is a wonderful instrument to share my work quickly! And whatever I share on the blog gets on Facebook and Twitter instantly! LOVE THAT!

+ 1! I missed the poll last week…

yep. i only have one for my 365 project, otherwise i would just upload to flickr and be done with it. but since flickr has made it so easy to tweet it to my blog, i now have double exposure. no pun intended. hahahahha

I missed the poll too! + another 1

That’s a massive number of photoblogs! So much out there, so little time!

Cool to see. I have one as well, for my 365-project. It is fun, since it makes you actually go out and take photos so you get content to post =)

A photo blog of sorts….. FOOOOOOOOD

40% is quite a percentage. I started http://www.flixelpix.com but find the same photo seems much better traffic on flickr. It is hard to know whether to photoblog or stick with flickr which is much cheaper ?

I have a photoblog of sorts too. Just a way of sharing photos and thoughts on life, food and travel.

I was just considering a blog for my photos (I’m a paper crafter with a blog for that…and a few photos), but I just paid for two years of Flickr, so I think I’ll keep my photos there. I just need the discipline to photograph something every single day!

I have a photoblog where I keep updating my experience every while.
However, most of the time I just upload my photographs on flickr.

I started to maintain a blog a while ago, which initially created for my writing. but then i don’t have enough time for serious features, article,s etc. so, now i upload my photos there.

I have a blog that I occasionally put photos (hosted by flickr) on, but not a real “photo blog”.

I only put photos on there if I have something to say about them.

the more you view, the more you get feedback, and the more you give feedback the more you learn…
i think also the remaining 40% have an online portfolio at some other website or photo community.

Imo, you’re much better off using photography sites like deviantart. It’s free, your work is exposed to millions of members and you don’t need to worry about a thing. The point of sharing your images is to make other people see them, right? If everyone has his own photoblog, trafiic will be very limited indeed.

40% seems like a pretty high number to me but I think it’s cool that so many of us do have photo blogs.

Interesting number. I would also be interested to see how that compares to those who simply post photos somewhere online such as Flickr.
February 8th, 2010 at 11:44 pm
Oh…well here’s an extra +1.

behind the times and late as usual :-) yes I have one as well

How do I start or make a photo blog?
February 9th, 2010 at 3:11 am
I like to tell a story with my photos. Why did I take this particular photo? How did it make me feel? What was I trying to capture?
February 9th, 2010 at 3:13 am
@danferno Putting your photos on deviant art hoping they will be discovered is like going to a job fair with 10,000 other people hoping YOU will get hired.

Very cool.
@a. sparacio Having a photo blog can be as simple as opening a flickr account or using a blog based website like wordpress or blogger.

My blog is not only a great place to highlight certain photos I am proud of but also a forum to discuss photo topics. I specialize in Concert Photography so I write a monthly article in my Concert Photography 101 series. I like it when people leave comments and either challenge my thoughts (in a mature manner), ask questions and leave their input on highlighted topics.
I try to keep the posts short and engaging to keep people coming back. I am always open to critique and/or suggestions for my blog.

I couldn’t live without my photoblog. I use it daily, including as a base home for Delaware (USA) PhotoWalks. Visit me at http://fstopshere.blogspot.com

This is great to know people love to publish their work. It is an act of mutual encouragement to learn from each other. In my blog I started the project365 recently and I share the recipes for the shots that I took.

Cool, although as a new blogger I thought more people would be doing it – it’s so easy!!

I use Aminus3 to blog (Inspirations.aminus3.com), am just an amateur but since they have such an active community you regularly get some good feedback. I started off last year with the aim of posting photos regularly, went ok for a while but now happens in bursts after long quiet periods!!
Renewing my commitment now!

Great that so many readers have photo blogs. I was too late to vote, but I have a blog too so I’ll bet there are many many more. It is an awesome way to get your work out for the world to see and comment on. I love looking at other peoples photo blogs to see what they are up to – very inspiring!
Here’s mine:
