My daily photoblog is not a collection of “perfect” photos. Some I’m very proud of, but most are meant to capture something that happened to me during the day. It’s more journal than work of art, and has more writing in it than I first intended. That being said, I am taking courses and reading dPS to help improve the quality of my photos.

My blog is at: http://richherrmann.com/blog and I try to share the techniques, stories or process in creating nature photos. I think people appreciate a good story and want to learn more about how art is created.

Mine is at http://www.markpashia.com but is somewhat out of date as I am torn about theft. While I would love to share, most of my family is using apple products that don’t do flash objects and without flash to protect the use, magazines and publications of all types are avoiding the cost by stealing images!!! This hurts photography in that it devalues the professional images. Why buy an image when I can get it for free or at most a byline for the photographer? Sharing is a great idea but theft is destroying the craft so what is one to do? I have never posted my best work anywhere on the web for this reason. I do post to critique sites but only if the image has a problem that I can feel but not define. In those cases critiques have helped me solve problems in most cases. I have posted my second best level of work in some places just to see the response but that is not very valuable since I don’t even truly respect those works myself. I spend huge dollars traveling to prime sites and even more on my equipment and just cannot justify being ripped off once, so it is a true problem for me.

Here I am. My rambling thoughts on nature, landscape, and wildlife photography, with a little automotive imagery thrown in for good measure.
Most of my images are made in New Hampshire.

@Marco, two words Watermark Everything!
And post a small enough file so as to be useless for much other than viewing on a computer, no more than 800px on the longest edge. If someone wants to steal one of mine, my logo with my website is going to be very prominently displayed(without taking too much away from the image while viewed online of course)
April 7th, 2012 at 2:24 am
@Jeff Sinon — Anyone unethical enough to steal photography will be unethical enough to use the watermark removal tools that are out in the wilds of the web. And the only way to watermark anything that will make it hard for these tools is to place it dead center on top of the main focal point as the tools slightly degrade the image. The degradation does not matter in an out of focus area too much, but will be noticeable on an in focus area. Why show them if they are watermarked on the main subject? It really sucks but unless you are on staff at a reputable magazine, the web is killing the industry! I am not anti-web as I have been on it from day one, but the piracy sucks for someone who wants to grow and get exposure. On the flip side are these great resources for learning. Or just give it all away and forget about ever making any money off of it. Lots of people want to make money off of you but don’t want to share with you! Good luck to all.

I have a blog called: ” Word and Image ” that I post once a week on Thursday evening to offer insight and encouragement through life’s transitions. http://www.ibkimage.com

I try and educate and entertain at the same time. My students seem to retain the material better and enjoy all of my learning “misadventures” along the way. I was one of those folks who was working in corporate America and went to work one day only to find that I didn’t have a job. I rolled the dice and decided to take on my hobby as a full time profession. It has been a lot of work and long hours, but I still enjoy it. I have ran into every difficult situation it seems like so I have learned in the trenches. Now, when Plan A goes south, I usually have Plan B and C as a back up.
In the blog section there are lighting diagrams, HDR techniques, off camera flash and more as well as general shooting tips. This was the best investment in time and energy for me. I use it as a portfolio to gain new clients and stay in touch with existing ones. I find this to be much, much better than Facebook as I don’t have to worry about forking over worldwide rights. Stop by and see what you think. Thanks…

I would love to do one but am overwhelmed by the number of options to do so as well as the how-tos. Right now it’s enough of a job to just get through the photographs I’m taking. Especially when coming home from a trip. I’m curious as to what sites you all who do have blogs, websites are using and why and the level of ease vs options. Maybe it’s a completely different question topic but I’d love to see what you all are doing. Thanks.

Hello, here is my photoblog:
http://luminumbre.blogspot.com/
I started in 2009 and it’s in Romanian, but it shouldn’t be a problem as there is no writing in it except for the photo titles.
