this year for christmas my mother in law got me “The practical illustrated encyclopedia of Digital Photography – Steve Luck

LOVE IT! ive never been the kind of person who learns best through reading text/how to/guide books but its broken down nicely and it segmented short and sweet yet super informative and illustrates all their explanations with photos. the only downside is the big size.

The Photographerâ€™s Eye by Michael Freeman is the best photography book I ever read. I already read two books by Brian Peterson and Scott Kelby’s tips but this one is different. There is not a single word about setting your camera, it’s fully about creating photos.

Digital photography book by scot kelby is my favourite book.. And I just bought an E-Book from this one website. The book title is “photography guide for beginners”. The price is only $10. Understanding Exposure by Brian Peterson is a fantastic book and was recommended to me by many people I now tell everyone looking to get into photography to buy it.

“How to Cheat in Photoshop CS3″ is one of the worst books ever written on Photoshop, in my humble opinion.

The “comps” it shows you how to make look absolutely *terrible!* The methods it describes are usually not the best methods to use or are the more difficult of any of several methods.

I would HIGHLY suggest flipping through this book, and taking a hard look at some of the pictures it shows you how to create before buying this. With most of them, it’s blatantly obvious that someone was *trying* to Photoshop things in. The majority of which could easily appear on sites like: http://photoshopdisasters.blogspot.com/

I’m surprised that Joe McNally’s “The Moment It Clicks” is not on the list. Not really an instructional type of book, but it does contain a lot of “how I took this photo” information. I’d rate it half coffee table book, half instructional book.

Any of the “How to Cheat in Photoshop” books are awesome. I bought an older edition and it really helped with strengthening my understanding of the basics. An EXCELLENT read!

I would also add The Moment it clicks by Joe McNally. It is full of great tips, stories and photos.
