I just checked the blog five minutes ago, and now here comes a new update! LOL!
I can’t believe that there would be only a week left until the competition! I am interested in it, of course. But with so many participants.. *sigh* I hope everyone will still hang around after the competition, the forums seem so alive lately!
Still, I for one have had a great time here in DPS. I learned so much about photography even without a camera. So much, in fact, that a friend of mine who was into photography actually started asking for my critiques and stuff. I don’t know how to mess with her camera of course, but at least I helped out in pointing out minor details such as cropping and stuff that I have learned here in DPS. So I am really really glad!
This is the first photog community that I joined. I feel really lucky now to have found such a community. ^_^ And 2 years old too! WOOT! Here’s to more years to come!

reply to Matthew Miller:
Question: “…what if someone who already has a different system wins?”
Answer: Give it to me! My DPS moniker is dlaf, the winner can pm me there for my shipping address. So glad you asked!

My photo gear was stolen a few days ago (Nikon D200 & 3 lenses). Hope I win…however, good luck to everyone!

This is exciting and quite a generous prize too!

Interesting.. because I was thinking the same thing… I’d gladly take it and use it… but I’m so knee deep in Canon gear…(about $10K+) it’d take me a year to fully gear up for Nikon… However, I’ve been dying to try out Nikon… so when I win.. it’ll give the opportunity…

A high percentage of your daily features have been very useful for me in learning new tips, tricks, and aspects of digital photography. The links and related materials have been very good too.

This would be a great prize to win ~ then my husband wouldn’t have to keep stealing MY Nikon D80!
April 25th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
having just gone digital, i hope that whoever gets the prize will appreciate it. If the winner already has a cam outfit, then the next best thing is to give it to someone who has the potential and the urge to get into a new and wonderful world.
I love reading all the comments from all you beautiful people. One day i hope to show some of my “achievements” in the photo world.
light and love.

My wife just bought a D80 last week and she absolutely loves it. We are wanting to get a second Nikon but need to save a little more money. This would be sweet.

November 4th, 2008 at 9:51 am
Daniel–where did you buy it with 2 lenses for under $500? I sooooooo want to win it!
November 10th, 2008 at 7:28 am
Already a Nikon user (like me) and pondering what to do if you win? My first thought is to give it to the media class at our small rural high school. They’d love it, and I’d love to see them learning on a REAL camera.

Bob–that is a wonderful idea!

I was looking for some information on the next assingment, and I found this thread… I got so exited cause I though there was a contest with a DSLR as first prize. But then I started looking for the date of the post.. and I went even backwards reading the whole thread describing the contest. But no date. NONE! NADA! hehehehe…
So, May you consider to publish the date on the posts????? So our feeling don´t get hurt :D and our time waisted???
I´m sure I´m not alone in this…
Thank you
Dotita

SORRY FOLKS – THIS COMPETITION IS NOT RUNNING ANYMORE
SIME – DECEMBER 2009

I am an old guy with a lot of money in my slr cameras and lenses. I have not yet gone digital. I will be forced to when I can no longer get 35mm film or have it processed.
I would like to use my expensive Cannon lenses with a digital SLR but I guess that is to much to hope for. I know that is progress but it is such a waste of great equipment and living on a retirement income does not help matters.
